The Indigenous Health Task Force (IHTF) is committed to A: The ongoing vision and strategic planning of the ISHS office formally known as the Aboriginal Students Health Sciences (ASHS) office towards the inclusion of First Nations, Inuit and Métis, faculty, staff and students. 2.  That Indigenous Peoples health priorities within health sciences programs reflect Indigenous contexts and scholarship in meaningful ways and adheres to the principles of cultural competency and safety.

The IHTF will be comprised of:

  • Co-Chairs; the Director and the Faculty Advisor of ISHS. (2)
  • Student representatives; an Indigenous graduate, undergraduate student or ISHS Mentor(2-3)
  • A member of the Indigenous community external to McMaster (1)
  • A member of an Indigenous health organization or health professional external to McMaster (1)
  • Designate from the Indigenous Education Council
  • A seat will be held in perpetuity for an Elder. (1-2)
  • Indigenous faculty within the health sciences or allied disciplines (1-3)
  • ISHS staff as designated by the Director (2)
  • Director Indigenous Student Services (1)
  • Ad hoc seats will be available for representative from programs within the health sciences to address emerging needs and priorities. (7)
