Mandate:

  • Serve as a national collaborating body of Indigenous Student Program/Office representatives within health sciences.
  • To serve as a resource for local, regional, national and international level organizations, stakeholders, academic planners, researchers and policy-makers access in the areas of Indigenous contexts within health sciences and the recruitment and retention of Indigenous health human resources.
  • To actively promote Indigenous health and healing within Health Sciences.
  • To actively promote the hiring of Indigenous Faculty within Health Sciences.
  • Create an inclusionary and culturally safe environment for First Nations, Inuit and Métis students within Health Sciences.
  • Develop through collaboration; tools, strategies and a knowledge base in the ongoing identification and removal of barriers to success for Indigenous learners within Health Sciences.
  • Act as an advocate and champion for First Nations, Inuit and Métis student priorities; and for changes to the current curriculum utilized within Health Sciences to those in decision-making roles.
